Board Responsibilities

The Summit Learning Charter School Board has the following major responsibilities:

Approve the Vision and Goals for the charter.
Adopt policies that give the charter direction to set priorities and achieve its goals.
Hire and evaluate the Director.
Adopt and oversee the annual budget.

School Mission and Vision

The mission of the School is to empower families, teachers, and community members by creating an educational culture that prepares students for a successful transition to the world
of work or post-secondary education.

Vision & Themes: Empower every learner with a challenging, innovative, and personalized
education.

The Family is the primary support for the learner.
- Family engagement, participation, and support is welcomed and expected.
Personalized learning / not “one-size fits all”.
- Provide rich and varied curriculum choices and learning modes.
- Student relationships are crucial to student performance and educational
  success.
  - Every student can learn.
  - Every student learns differently.
Continuous improvement is the expectation.
- For all faculty.
- For the institution.
- For all learners.

Community Instructions

All Board meetings, with the exception of executive sessions, will be open to witness by the public. The Board invites the school community members to attend Board meetings to become acquainted with the program and operation of the school.

Individuals may attend the Board meeting virtually or in person when they are held in person. Check the SLC homepage at summitlearningcharter.org. Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month, subject to change. Dates each month are posted on the school calendar. When meetings are held via Zoom, citizens may request a link to the Board zoom meeting by sending an email to ccole@summitlc.org (preferably no later than 2 hours prior to the meeting).
