Happy School Year
Hi Summit learners.
The first few weeks are in the books, or laptops, so to speak, and in just another week (September 21st) most of our Early College students will also be in full swing.
Summit Learning Charter welcomed more than 100 new students to our virtual program and nearly 200 more students into our early college this fall. The success of this school is measured by the satisfaction of our students and families – often, these new learners enter our programs are looking for a fresh start and a chance to reconnect with the wonder of learning and SLC is proud to offer that.
I am happy to welcome 10 new parent volunteers into our charter school. Big thanks in advance to the time you all spend collaborating with our school. The partnership between our school and your family is a powerful tool to leverage student growth and school development. I really value your commitment to our program and participation.
Very soon, Summit Learning Charter will begin our expanded use of NWEA Maps Assessments through the 9th grade. These assessments are multiple skills measurements that provide our instructors and YOU powerful insights into how your student is learning and what gaps may be present. I realize that the words test and assessment are buzzy subject in this current educational climate, however Summit Learning Charter stands behind MAPS as a terrific tool for instructors, curriculum coordinators, parents, and learners to understand specific skills and specific gaps. In short time, we will outline a year long calendar for testing – MAPS and the State Assessment to share with you.
The start to a new school year signals a fresh chance for students to work forward on their dreams, thanks for allowing Summit to learn alongside your family and your children. I hope that you have a terrific year!
Make sure to come by our new school facility in Eagle Creek on Wednesdays and Thursdays, it is a great opportunity connect with other learners and our staff.
