Early College & Virtual Academy Graduation Requirements

Graduation from high school is an exciting milestone that prepares students for future success. To earn their diploma, students need to meet specific credit requirements while also developing the skills and knowledge that prepare them for life after high school. Summit Learning Charter’s graduation requirements are those required by the state to earn an Oregon Diploma.

As per state requirements, students must complete the following to earn an Oregon Diploma:

Must include Scientific Inquiry and Lab Experiences as outlined in the standards. Lab experiences can take place outside of school, in field-based experiences.

Must include at least 0.5 credit from Civics and inclusive instruction in Tribal History/ Shared History, Holocaust/ Genocide, and Ethnic Studies, starting with students graduating in 2026

Personal Financial Education

College and Career Path Skills

Essential Skills

In addition to earning the minimum credits required for graduation, all students must demonstrate proficiency in these process skills before they are awarded a diploma.

  • Reading: comprehension of a variety of text

  • Writing: writing clearly and accurately

  • Mathematics: apply math in a variety of settings

Does Summit have a graduation ceremony?

Yes. Summit’s Graduation Coordinator organizes a wonderful ceremony every year.

How can students request an Honors Diploma?

Students with a GPA minimum of 3.5 can fill in a request form for an Oregon Honors Diploma Seal.
