How Early College Works

How does Early College work?

Any classes taken through the student’s chosen community college will earn them credits toward their high school diploma, and allow them to start building their college transcript at the same time. How does the program work with community colleges?

Summit partners with nearly every community college in Oregon, sponsoring up to 12 credits of college coursework per term to align with both their high school and college academic goals.

How do students decide which classes to take?

Upon enrollment, each student is assigned to a Summit Advisor. Students work closely with advisors each term to ensure that they’re meeting their high school requirements, while also exploring subjects and courses of interest.

Can students take classes on a community college campus?

They certainly can, but they are also welcome to access online college classes if that fits their learning style better. They can also take a mix of on-campus and online classes.

Will my college classes only be with high school students?

No. Students should expect to take classes with a diverse group of learners, including high school students, recent graduates, and adult learners.

What is a full-time Early College schedule?

There are many variations as to how we can build a schedule for learners depending on their goals, interests, and availability! Contact our registrar to discuss these options.
